Virtual Mason Jar Moss Terrariums

Moss terrariums workshop Eventbrite.png

Build a miniature moss terrarium in this online workshop!

In this class, you’ll learn about the fascinating world of mosses, one of the world's oldest and most resilient plants, and create a miniature ecosystem for them inside a Mason jar. Decorate your jar with a choice of river rocks, tiny dinosaurs, or tiny deer.

Here's how it works:

  • This workshop is limited to 6 students.

  • This class will be taught virtually via Zoom. You will receive the Zoom info after you register.

  • We will mail students a kit with the materials you need to participate, including live moss, decorative elements such as rocks, crystals, tiny dinosaurs, or woodland figurines, and a 16 oz Mason jar. You'll need your own scissors or a craft knife.

  • If you already have a 16 oz Mason jar and lid, you can opt to just receive the other materials.

  • You must register by January 15th to ensure your kit arrives in time.

  • Students will receive a care card and link to an instructional PDF after the class.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the event family-friendly?

Yes! That said, this activity will require some fine motor skills and the use of scissors or a sharp knife, so we recommend that kids are supervised at all times to avoid injury.

2. When will I receive my materials?

We ship all kits using USPS Priority Mail. They typically ship one week before the class and arrive within 1-3 business days but can sometimes take closer to 5-7 days with recent postal delays. If you are located outside the DMV, we recommend registering ASAP so we can mail your materials earlier.
