Virtual Mounted Hoyas Workshop

Join us and REWILD for a botanical evening learning how to mount and care for hoya or wax plants.

In their natural environment, many hoya grow on rocks or trees, not in the pots you see at the garden store. Their trailing foliage and fragrant flowers look beautiful when mounted and hung on a wall. In this virtual class, you’ll learn how to make a beautiful living wall hanging and gain the knowledge needed to keep it alive.

In this workshop, students will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of hoya plant care, including light requirements and watering tips

  • Discover the special properties of hoya plants that make it possible to grow them mounted on bark

  • Make their own hoya mounted to a piece of lightweight, sustainably-sourced cork bark

Here's how it works:

  • This class will be taught virtually via Zoom. You will receive a confirmation email with the link to participate.

  • All the materials are included in your ticket, including a 3” or 4” plant, cork base, hanging hardware, anchor pins, fishing line, and two types of moss.

  • You can choose local delivery or pick up your workshop materials from REWILD’s Shaw location.

  • You will need to provide your own scissors and a Phillips head screwdriver.

  • You must register by September 15th to ensure enough time for pickups and deliveries.

  • There are only 12 spots in this class to ensure high-quality, individualized instruction.

  • Students will receive care instructions and a recording after the class.

No experience or green thumbs needed! Students will also receive a 10% discount on any purchase at Rewild.
